Is Cramping Along With Spotting Normal After Having Mirena IUD?

I have had a Mirena IUD for about 2 years, no problems after the usual adjustment period. However, sometimes when I get a hint of spotting, combined with cramping, I get nervous. It seems to be a period, since I am broken out on face as well. But since I have no bleeding, I am curious if the cramping is normal?
