Is Cramping During A Pregnancy A Sign Of Miscarriage?

Hi, my friend is six weeks pregnant and expererienced some cramping last night so she went to the hospital today. They have told her that she is likely to miscarriage within a week, we she be ok to return to work tomorrow and while miscarrying? As she doesnt want to tell her collegues or boss. Please help
