Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife had kidney transplant in November 2011, post transplant she had no major health issues except frequent UTI which has been managed so far. Recently she again had UTI and fever , doctor has advised Cetil 500 twice a day and urine and blood test . After taking the medicine fever is down to normal. However in the blood test report creatinine level increased from 1 to 1.5. Is it the indication of rejection of transplant kidney. Please advice.
Her creatinine level may temporarily increase if she is dehydrated, have a low blood volume, eat a large amount of meat or take certain medications. Cetil could be a common cause of false estimates of elevated creatinine.
The dietary supplement creatine can have the same effect. She should repeat another blood or urine test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
