Is Crunching Sound In Bone Joint After Injury Sign Of Pigmented Synovitus?

I am 63 and injured my ankle in 1969. Extreme dorsiflexion and crushing. I now have bone on bone noise on contact(I think) and pain on dorsiflexion. An MRI indicated pigmented synovitus. I think it may be osteophytes interfering with the joint motion. But would'nt the MRI show these? Can I get another opinion on the MRI?
