My husband dx d stage IV sclc last Nov. with huge right hilar mass. Chemo/30 rad. tx s took care of the mass. With a normal chest x-ray he was told he was in remission. 3 mos later, today, on PET, he has paratracheal lymphy and the entire tail of his pancreas is now involved. Is CyberKnife a possible treatment for his pancreatic tail mets? He is going to go back on chemo after it is authorized by the insurance company. Want info about Cyberknife in his case.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the cyber-knife surgery is composed of Linear accelerator mounted on a robotic manipulator with operation through image intensification system in 3 Dimensional technology.

It is being used for variety of benign as well as malignant tumor conditions to precisely deliver the radiation beam to moving tumor. The concept is widely used world wide in stereo-tactic radiosurgery as well as stereo-tactic radiation therapy.

Kindly discuss the scope of the same in your husband case with his treating oncologist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
