Is Daily Use Of A Buffered Glycolic Product Safe?

I ve been using an 8% buffered glycolic product for home use every PM for over a year. My skin seems to tolerate this strength without obvious irritation. I d like to gradually progress to a 10% buffered strength, but I recently read about the risk of over exfoliating . Is daily use of a buffered glycolic product safe? What are the indicators (signs & symptoms) of over exfoliating ? Thank you.

hi,
thank you for putting up your query on HCM.
--glycolic acid is a peeling agent.
-- 6-8% is a very low concentration, it can be used daily for a long term.
-- i would like to inform you further, that any long term usage of medication may impose side effects like dryness, exfoliating skin and also post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- i would suggest you to consult a dermatologist before increasing its strength on its own.
- signs and symptoms of over exfoliating is dryness of skin, peeling of skin, sensitive skin.
- you may apply white soft paraffin or cetaphil lotion if it is exfoliating.
wishing you a healthy skin.
thank you.
