Is Diabetes Under Control?

Dear Doctor, I am a diabetic with bilrubin count in the range of 1 to 3.5 for the past three years. Recent check up shows bilrubin total as 3.2 & direct 0.4. SGOT / AST (P5, IFCC) 38 & SGPT/ALT (P5P, IFCC) 73. I was a occasional drinker before. Totaly stopped drinks for the past 4 years. No smoking, no non-veg food. My fasting sugar is 128 presently. Ultra sound report shows organs like kidney, gall blader, pancreas, spleen, aorta, liver etc as normal with impression as fatty liver. pl. give suitable guidance. regards, mohanram

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir i can understand your concern.

i am very happy to see that you diabetes is under control as per fasting blood sugar
But its very important to undergo a test called Hba1c% in estimating diabetes control.
This test will give three months average blood sugar estimation.
since there is slight elevation of liver enzymes and bilirubin i suggest you to check for viral markers for hepatitis.
In diabetes there will be elevated enzymes because of fatty liver but elevated bilirubin is unlikely
i am very happy to see that you adapted to healthy life style kindly do 45 mins of exercise also
regards
