Is Difficulty In Urination A Side Effect Of Pacemaker Implantation?

hi, my wife is 45 yrs old with cardio-myopathy and a pace maker. she was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach pains, low back pain in the kidney area, not able to urinate more than 1-2 times daily. very little would come out and was hard to start a stream. last monday her primary diognosed her with (UTI) and gave her Macrobid 100 mg for 3 days. Now she was retaining water, blood in the urine, when tested blood and protien were found in the urine. when she eats anything her stomach, low back left side and right side under the arm area have severe pain.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, these symptoms doesn't seem to be related to pace maker but some associated medications for heart may induce urinary symptoms however in her case the likely cause seems to be urinary tract infection.

Ultrasound KUB and urine cultures and sensitivity tests should have been sought and to assess the degree of infection and it's spread to kidneys in for of pyelogram should be ruled out.

Renal function tests to rule out acute kidney injury should also be done. Meanwhile, cranberry sachet can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
