Is Dilation Necessary To Have A C-section During Third Trimester Of Pregnancy?

I am 36 weeks pregnant and scheduled for a C-section. I am having contractions about every 5 minutes but the doctor said he could not do anything because I was not dialated. Do I have to be dialated in order for me to get induced or have the C-section earlier?

Hi,

You can try a single attempt of dilation. If it fails, straight away go for C section.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
