Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Discontinuing Labetalol Advisable While Having Low BP?
My blood pressure is currently 88/54. I take 1 lorsartan and 2 lebatelol per day as I have had high bp for years. I ve been dieting since January and have lost 60 pounds. I feel pooped. Should I remove one lebatelol until I can get to doctor on Monday? Is this bp dangerous?
Your blood pressure is under 90/60 thus it is lower than the normal levels.
You may choose to stop using labetalol this may worsen any current rhythm problems. I would advise you to better take half the dose of the medications you are taking now, thus half Losartan and only one Labetalol.
Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and do not get involved in increased physical activities. Change positions gradually, sit before standing from lying position, so your blood pressure does not drop abruptly and cause you to fall.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
