Is Dizziness A Side Effect Of Taking Plavix?

Good morning from Australia? It take Plavix and I find I get dizzy and my head feels strange, I have had a bypass 7 years ago but have only been on Plavix for 3 months . I do not take statins as I am allergic to all of them. Please advise whether I can come off plavix. I have skipped a few tablets as I find it makes me feel better without taking them, more energized and not dizzy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Dizziness can be a potential side effect of Plavix (clopidogrel), although it is not very common. Plavix is an antiplatelet medication that is commonly prescribed to reduce the risk of blood clots in individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions, such as a history of heart attack or stroke, or after certain procedures like coronary stent placement or bypass surgery.

Abruptly stopping Plavix or any other antiplatelet medication without medical supervision can increase the risk of blood clots and other cardiovascular complications. Therefore, meet your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. If you require a personalized response, kindly use the Ask A Doctor service and post a follow-up query.
