Is Ear Pain Due To Ear Infection Or Flu?

I have some flu symptoms, which is understandable this time of year. But my right ear hurts. It seems to increase in pain thru out the day. and I have this sharp shooting type of pain in this ear. is that another symptom of flu...or do I have an ear infection?

hi,
you have ear infection.
do not worry.
take a pain killer like paracetamol or ibuprofen after checking the dose.
instill decongestant nose drops like otrivin.
these drops open the eustachian tubes that connect the back of the nose to the inside of the ear. this tube can get blocked when there is flu and produce ear infection.
instill3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day for 5 days.
please see an ENT specialist soon. you may need antibiotics also.
regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
