Is End Stage Liver Disease Fatal?

Hi, my dear friend is dying from metastatic C.U.P. She has been in acute tertiary care for the last week. Yesterday they gave her Atavan on top of her other medications because she was highly anxious. She has been unresponsive now for about 20 hours. She has been put on an IV and they are hoping she will pull through, but they are concerned her liver is basically failed. If her liver does fail, how many hours/days would she be expected to live?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry for the fatal health disease your dear friend is going through. Unfortunately, we cannot give an exact time of expected to live even though her liver fails. We can only give a proximate time (few hours maybe), but not an accurate time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
