Is Exercise And Proper Diet Plan Beneficial For An Heart Attack Survivor?

A dear friend had a major heart attack 5 days ago. She was rushed to ER and within hours had surgery and came out with 2 stints in her major artery and only 20% heart function. Her next surgery will be to plant a defibrillator and wear a vest. While the heart being a muscle can repair itself, what is the likelihood and how will diet and exercise become beneficial help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to HCM...

Your friend was having heart attack means myocardial infarction for which blocked coronary artery treated with putting stent ....

See myocardial infarction is nectrotic condition and it can't reverse back ...
That damaged part will remain for life time ....

Regular exercise , low fat diet etc ...will prevent further future worsening or future heart attack....

If needed antiplatelet drugs can be given for prevention of thrombus formation....

Follow doctor advise and regular check up done ..

Hope your query solved ...

Take care ...
