Is Experiencing Heart Pounding During Pregnancy Normal?
Hi I am 30 year old pegnant female. It seems just about every day when I lay down forr an afternoon nap I can feel my heart pounding pretty much throughout most of my body. Is this normal? The only healthconcern I have is slightly high cholesterol.
Feeling of heart pounding, also known palpitations any times is not to be ignored.
Particularly, palpitations in pregnancy may be due to: 1. Anaemia 2. Heart problem 3. Thyroid problem 4. Growing uterus in the abdomen pressing on the diaphragm. This is more likely to happen in later weeks of pregnancy. Since you are getting palpitations in lying down condition, this seems to be more probable cause.
However, please get your blood examined for haemoglobin estimation.
The anaemia can be treated with iron and folic acid. May be you will require additional B12.
A cardiogram will exclude or diagnose the heart cause. Since you have high cholesterol, you should not ignore it.
Please report to your Obstetrician.
I hope you will take the required steps now.
