Hello Doctor, My son is 3.5 years old and for the past 1 week he keeps rubbing his eyes very often and its watery too. We consulted an Ophthalmologist and she said he has got a slight power of 0.5 which she considered as very normal. She also said that since my son has got cold he might get irritation and that s the reason behind his rubbing eyes. She has prescribed a lubricant. Please advice me if that power of 0.5 at his age is considered normal? (My son used to watch tv for 1 hour and used to play games in mobile but we have stopped all those practices)
Yeah it is normal and does not require glasses. lubricants are fine use them 3-4 times a day. Tell him not to rub his eyes as rubbing will worsen the situation.Needs yearly follow ups to see the power is increasing and if yes then may rquire glasses later
Yes it is normal and does not require glasses. Lubricants 3-4 times a day should be fine. yearly check up to see whether power is increasing and then can decide on glasses
