Hi,

Paraplegia is an acquired condition. It is paralysis of both legs caused by spinal disease or injury. Spastic paraplegia is a hereditary condition. It is characterised by weakness & rigidity of muscles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
