Is Fatty Changes In Liver Parenchyma Due To Excessive Alcohol Intake?
USG report. - Liver is of normal size. Echo texture is hyperechoic indicating fatty changes in liver parenchyma. Fatty liver grade- II . Kindly clear me the present condition of liver. My age 55. I am not alcoholic. But doctor said ,may be due to alcohol intake.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Fatty change in liver can occur due to number of factors. Alcohol intake is the most common cause of fatty change of liver. However, other causes of fatty liver are diabetes mellitus, obesity, malnutrition, starvation etc. In case you are diabetic, then diabetes mellitus can be a cause of fatty liver. Whatever may be the cause of fatty liver, it is a reversible condition and can be reversed if the stimulus for fatty liver is removed. Firstly, the causative factor needs to be identified and then measures to eliminate those factors should be made.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
