Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi have been diagnosed with pancreatic divisium. I have had lft flank pain for 11months constant. Had an endoscopy today with ultra sound. Showed pancreatic parenchymal abnormalities consisting of hyperechoic strands in the pancreatic body. Is this consistent with pancreatitis? Any chance of cancer? Thanks Heidi
Hyperechoic strands in the pancreatic body on an ultrasound examination of the abdomen is not diagnostic of pancreatitis. It is also not suggestive of pancreatic cancer. You may like to get the serum amylase test done to see if it is elevated. If so, this could suggest pancreatitis. An MRI examination of the abdomen, especially the pancreas and biliary tract would be helpful.
