General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is unrelated to your previous surgery. Possible causes like renal dysfunction and low blood albumin must be ruled out.

Long standing hypertension and prolonged bed rest can also cause edema(swelling) or lower limbs. You can go for a renal function test(RFT) and liver function test(LFT) to find out the cause for edema.

Make sure that your blood pressure is well within the normal range as hypertension is a common cause for edema.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
