Is Flying Safe When Diagnosed With Acute Conjunctivitis In Eyes?

Hi, my husband has acute conjunctivitus in both eyes, coupled with generally feeling lethargic, not eating and shivering sensations. We are due to travel to Gran Canaria in three days, is it safe for him to fly? He has had the infection for 5 days now and has been using a prescribed antibiotic cream on his eyes as advised from GP. Any advice would be great. Thank You

Hi

Conjunctivitis caused by allergies will not be a problem since there is no risk of infection and spread to others.

In case of Infective conjunctivitis, you can travel after a day or two of antibiotic drop.By then the infection will start clearing up.

You have mentioned that you have been taking antibiotics for the past 5 days.If your symptoms have reduced in the past few days and you do not have any other conditions like fever, you can continue with your travel.

In case of fever and myalgia persisting more than 3 days,I would recommend you to take blood tests to identify and treat the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
