Is Flying Safe While Suffering From Ectopic Beats And Palpitation?
Hi, I have been suffering from ectopic beats and palpitations most likely caused by anxiety which has just started in the past 3-4 months. I am due to take a long haul flight this weekend. Can flying make the ectopics/palpitations worse? I am terrified of flying at the best of times but now with all this it is making me very anxious that flying could kick start a bad episode. I will probably take Valium (prescribed by doc) prior to the flight. Thanks
Hi, Firstly reason of ectopic beats and palpitations should be find out. You might require EKG, Echo-cardio gram and cardiac enzyme test to rule out any cardiac ailment. If there is no cardiac problem, this can be due to anxiety or cardio-neurosis. Then there is no problem having long flight. Avoid stress and develop self confidence to go for long flight. Any how consult cardiologist and seek his advice. Ok and take care.
