Is Flying Safe While Suffering From Vertigo?

hello! our 21 yr old son was diagnosed on Friday with vertigo. We took 2 days to drive from upstate NY to NC and since we have been here he is doing pretty well. He is on a med ( meclizine) & takes it 2x a day. He is set out to fly back home to college tomorrow (3 short flights) and we just wanted to know if this is recommended. Thank you!

Hello

yes, he can take short flights, but continue medications as advised. Generally vertigo is not a major concern in short flights. During fly, try to avoid stress, drink lot of fluids. Along with that don't move head spontaneously.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Dr Shyam Kale
