Is Fullness In The Throat A Symptom Of Fluid In The Heart?
I have had a plural effusion and pleuradesis, I thought I had a sore throats but am not sure now, I have a feeling of fullness in my throat and I have gained 13 pounds in the last few days, I don t want to panic but I was wondering if my heart could be sitting in fluid, I also had a cardiac window
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would explain that your symptoms do not seem to be related to the pleural effusion.
Anyway, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- a chest X ray study and respiratory function tests
- a cardiac ultrasound (if you have not performed it yet)
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- NT-proBNP levels for heart failure
- kidney and liver function tests
- blood electrolytes.
Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
