Is Genital Herpes Contagious?

Thank you... I have just been diagnosed with genital herpes. My partner says he has never had that. How quickly after one is exposed to general herpes does an outbreak occur. Would it make sense that it might lie dormant inside me for months before my first breakout.

Hi, I think genital herpes is highly contagious. It can spread through sexual contact even if no active lesions are present . There can be periods of asymptomatic shedding. It can lie dormant for months and present with active lesions on and off.
