Is Giving Benadryl With Melatonin Safe For Eczema?

My seven year old just started taking Focalin XR 5 mg on Sunday. She has had eczema in the past and I noticed some redness on Monday night or Tuesday. Thought it was an Eczema breakout, in armpit area and on her back behind her knees as usual, but tonight I noticed it has spread little red dots all over her chest, back and legs. No swelling anywhere, breathing normal, thinking it must be reaction to medication? My plan was to stop medicine and see if it clears up over weekend. Call her doctor on Monday to see about another medication. Wasn t sure if I should have the rash looked or if I can wait it out the weekend? Also wondered if I could give benehdryl with this medication and if giving melatonin 3 mg pill with this med was ok?

Hello,

As per your case history of eczema, my treatment advice is –

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.

If the problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
