Is Giving An Infant An Expired Medication For Loose Motion Harmful?
Hi my 8 months old baby was having loose motion I gave her a daralac z sachet after giving her sachet I saw a expiry date and it was expired the expiry date was April 2016 and now it is July is there any serious about this sachet and now she is crying a lot I don t no what to do
Though it's not a toxic dose in which it has been consumed, but after expiry either denaturation of drug happens or preservatives along with drug or medium of drug pharmaco-kinetics is denatured.
In any case it will resolve with in a day or two. Meanwhile oral anti spasmodic like Drotaverine for symptomatic relief, alongside good hydration to flush it out of the system is important.
