Is Gradual Withdrawal Of Oxygen Advisable When Diagnosed With COPD?

After 18 years of taking oxygen because I had COPD...I am now told by a well recommended specialist after looking at a picture of my lungs that he is going to gradually get me off oxygen...while I am thrilled...I thought that once you had COPD, it could not be cured, just treated.g Wondering
