Is Hair Coloring Safe While Suffering From Alopecia Areata?
Can I dye my hair if I have alopecia areata? I am 66 yrs old & started this condition this past February. I last had it colored in June by a salon. I was planning to do it myself but am afraid I will do more damage to my scalp & hair. My scalp has a burning sensation. Dermatologist told me it was ok to color my hair. OI need a second opinion.
You can color your hair and there is no issue about it. Hair coloring can definitely damage your hair and cause dryness. I would suggest you to use good hair products and a trusted professional.
Always conduct an allergy test before completely coloring your hair. Apply a small amount of the coloring product behind the ear and allow it for half an hour. Any itching or rash can indicate allergy to the product and hence should be avoided.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
