Is Having Irregular Periods Concerning?

I have irregular periods where i will bleed for months at a time then not bleed for months. It constantly changes. Recently I went from having one almost constantly for 5 months to now I haven t had one since January except a day of some flow. Is there something wrong? Should I get it checked? I have had cysts burst before.
