Is Having Large Clots And Dull Ache Normal For The First Period After Delivery?
I'm 26, 5'6" and 145 pounds. I had a csection 16 months ago and stopped nursing 4 months ago. This month is my first "real period" and it's been odd. I had bleeding almost every other week last month and then this month the bleeding came on time. I'm passing large clots (much larger then a quarter) my blood is very thick and my cramping is less like cramping and more like a consistent dull ache. Is this normal?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. No, passage of large clots in first period after delivery is not common and it can be due to any hormonal disturbances or any pathology in the uterus. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including hormonal profile and ultrasound and get appropriate treatment. In the meantime, you can take tranexemic acid to reduce the flow of bleeding. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
