Is Having Protected Sex With An HIV Infected Person A Cause For Concern?

Hi I had sex with almost 3 days ago and I think she has HIV/AIDS, what are my changes of getting infected by virus, and I did use condom, after sex I realize There was blood on condom, she was going through her period she did not say any thing about it to me, what are the chances of me getting infection by virus?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:

1. Since you had a protected sex [using condom] and assuming that the condom was intact and doesn't break chances of getting infected by virus are nil [HIV virus cannot permeate intact latex]

2. for a definite HIV screening test result one have to wait for 3 months.

3. If she is HIV positive and getting treatment for the same then there should be a very low amount of virus in her body since with this combination [medicine plus condom] chances are even more less.

4. If still in dilemma you may consult a sexual health clinic near your locality: either a Genito Urinary Medicine [GUM] or Sexually Transmitted Infection [STIs] clinic.
