Is Headache A Side Effect Of Withdrawing Hydrochlorothiazide?

I stopped hctz 3 days ago and have had normal blood pressure and heart rates. However, I have had a horrible headache. Is this a normal reaction to stopping the medication? My blood pressures/heart rates have been about the same as when I was taking it. 130/78, 134/82, he 76, 78. I also have blurry vision. Is that normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are having normal values of blood pressure and I don't think that the headache is related to it. I think that stopping hydrochlorothiazide doesn't cause the headache neither. It can be a simple headache that can go away taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
