Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
is a racing heart a common symptom of stomach flu. low grade fever, vomiting for 3 days. unable to eat and can only manage small amounts of water. But the heart racing is a concern. Even when resting. I had triple by-pass at age 42, I am now 52 and otherwise in good health.
Hello and thank you for the question. Gastroenteritis, or stomach flu as it is commonly called, is an illness caused by a virus. Though the symptoms can vary from person to person, generally gastroenteritis is marked by loose stools or watery diarrhea. Diarrhea cause dehydration of the body which can cause a racing heart and I would guess after throwing up all day and not eating or drinking much for a few days, that this could be the reason why. You should drink electrolyte drinks, or eat food that are rich in sodium and potassium. Best regards!
