Is Heart Rate Of 140 After Taking First Dose Of Lisinopril A Cause For Concern?
Hello
Saw a doctor earlier today due to a pain around the area of where my heart is. After an ECG he thought that this was due to a persistent cough that I have had and was not unduly concerned. Pain now long gone. Doc was however concerned with my blood pressure, which was consistently around 150/105 (my heart rate was around 90 but normally more like 75 to 80 at rest) and prescribed me tablets. 5mg lisinopril. 12 hours after first taking medication I feel otherwise fine but I've been lying down for an hour and my heart rate is 140. Should I be worried? I'm a 37 year old male. Ex smoker, don't drink. BMI c.36 otherwise nothing exciting in medical history.
Tachycardia (heart rate over 100 bpm) is a uncommon side effect of lisinopril. Some of the side effects that can occur with this drug may not need medical attention, as your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away.
However if this persists you should be worry for a change in therapy.
All the best.
