Is Heavy And Prolonged Period Post Childbirth A Cause For Concern?

Hi I recently gave birth about 3 minths ago. Havent had a period for over 2 months. No i had gotten my period which seems to be lasting for 9 days now. I am starting to thibk it is tge tampon now. Every time i remove the tampon i get a little pain while removing it but when i look at the tampon there is only a couple spots of blood. But when i go to wipe after or go to the bathroom there is fresh blood. I dont know if it is from my tampon or my actual period. I just dont want to keep putting in tampon and bleeding. And i also dont want to dismiss it as just my tampon causing the problem. Im not sure what i should do. If i should see a doctor about this.

Hello,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, there is follow up after delivery and with the blood loss.

With delivery anemia is probably the usual case even without the further bleeding. And with bleeding the blood count and the rest has to be sorted out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
