Is Heavy Bleeding A Side Effect Of I-pill?

My wife s 1st day of cycle was on 27.04.11, later on 08.05.11 she had to take ipill then on 15.05.11 she started having the cycle all over again with discharge but from 19.05.11 onwards the bleeding has been very severe and from 24.05.11 the bleeding has slightly decreased. Could this be the side effect of the ipill? She also has been experiencing severe abdominal pain, which usually she does nt experience with this intensity? kindly advise.
