Is Heavy Menstrual Bleeding After An IUD Implant Normal?

I ve had the Nexplanon implant since 11/2013. periods have been lighter and lesser since implanted. For the past week almost-having heavy bleeding suddenly. it s bright red and having large clots in it. is this normal or should I not be alarmed? thank you.
