Is Hemoglobin Level Of 4 A Cause For Concern?

I am. 51 and suddenly severely anemic. My hemoglobin went from 13 down to 4. I have gluten intolerance, take armor thyroid 60 mg daily for hypo thyroid. I started on Ferros Suofate a month ago, 2 ml twice daily. I feel myself getting weaker. Should I get my blood infused? I m sensitive to medications. I have rosacia which I sometimes consider to be lupus because it looks like a mask at times. I worry that I might get an adverse reaction. My urine smells horrid since I started taking the Ferros sulfate. It s hard to lift my arms and hold things for extended periods of time. Any recommendations?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Hemoglobin four is a matter now of concern.

It is very low hemoglobin.

I suggest to consult a hematologist and get hospitalized for further treatment.

Meanwhile, I suggest taking ferrous sulphate, vitamin B12 and folic acid supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
