Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Hepatitis Indicative With Elevated Liver Enzyme Levels, Weakness And Chills?
Hi ..I m really scared...I ve been having fevers, aches, chills, weakness, & fatigue for 2 weeks...my blood work came back with elevated liver enzymes ALP 246, ALT 297, AST 186...I have to get an ultrasound and they did more blood work for possible hepatitis. I m a very healthy 34 yr old and in shock and so scared & nervous.
The elevated liver enzymes most probably could be due to infection with some hepatitis virus or from excess alcohol drinking. Sometimes fatty liver also can be responsible due to high cholesterol.
So I suggest you investigate with ultrasonography abdomen, HAV antibody Elisa testing, Hbsag ELISA, HCV antibody Elisa, HEV antibody Elisa, serum cholesterol estimation for primary work up.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
