Is Herpes Contagious?

I think I may have herpes and my friend has told me that I should clean the toilet seat and anything I touch in the bathroom after I use it, so that I don t infect anyone else. Also that I should not go in the pool. I am just wondering if this is true?

Hi,

No, it is extremely fragile.

Believe me, if we were trying to get the virus directly from someone we'd be lucky to get enough to infect a few cells if we swabbed a sore and stuck it directly onto cells.

You need thousands of times more to infect someone. If you rub a sore directly onto someone OR if the virus is popping out but does not produce a visible sore and you rub directly on someone (intercourse), then there is a very high likelihood of infection. The pool, toilet seat, etc even if it were fresh fluid, would only last minutes or until it dried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
