Hi I have high cholesterol I am told at a rate of 7.7 - 1.61 HDL and 5.52 LDL Triglycerides 1.7 Am healthy no family risk not overweight , fit and BP and heart rate all spot on. Is this an issue. Exercise each day normally with a range of sports, so some easy and other intense. I am 52 years of age
High cholesterol, as well as high triglyceride levels, are not good for your heart. It is a cause of concern & you need to lead a healthy lifestyle so that the levels get reduced to the optimum best. High cholesterol & triglyceride may result in the formation of fatty deposits in the cardiac vessels leading to stroke, peripheral artery disease, syncope & carotid artery disease.
Consult a cardiologist & take the required medications prescribed. Consult a nutritionist & follow your diet chart. Stay away from oily, trans fat, junk food, refined floor, cut on carbohydrate & red meat. Select whole grain, berries, veggies & fruits. Stay away from stress & addictions(alcohol, caffeine, drugs, etc) if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
General & Family Physician
