Is High Protein Level In Urine A Cause For Concern?
results from a 24 hour urine specimen result showed high protein level of 25.3- I will be consulting with an Endocrinologist for my osteoporosis. Should I be concerned about the high protein level? I work out regularly & my previous labs were OK. Thank you
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Your protein level of 25.3 in urine is slightly high. This much level is called 1+ protein & it can be sign of a kidney disease. Alternatively the concentration of protein in the urine may be compared to the creatinine level in a spot urine sample. This is termed the protein/creatinine ratio. Protein/creatinine ratio greater than 45 mg/mmol is sign of kidney disease.
refer to your physician for consultation Hope this information helps.
