Is Honey Intake Advisable While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

How does raw honey affect hypothyroidism? I have not been diagnosed but I meet some of the criteria. Honey seems to make me feel better, at least momentarily, I am having horrible problems with excessive perspiration, especially at night, I wake up freezing and literally sweating from everywhere, even my hands and eyelids. My Dr. keeps saying it is just menopause and I just try to deal with it. I have noticed that I feel a strange feeling as if something is constricting the front of my neck/throat directly prior to the onset of the sweating. My temperature (verified by two thermometers) will vary in a matter of minutes from 94.5 to 97.5. My entire life my base temp. has been 96.8 and I always feel as if I am freezing, so, honey...good or bad?

Hi,

I don't believe it is hyperthyroidism but most probably just menopause. Anyway, you should be checked for hyperthyroidism if your doctor suspects it.

Taking honey doesn't affect hyperthyroidism either menopause but you can benefit from its nutritional values. Honey also smoothens your throat.

You can take phytoestrogens to cope with a lack of estrogen caused by menopause, eg. soya milk.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
