Is Hysterectomy Safe To Have For Endometriosis With High BP?

I have never had endometriosis until a few month ago. Tried lupron but that did not help after the first injection in March. Side affects are too harsh and my joints are in pain, paticularly hands. Location of endometriosis is near ureter on abdomical wall and when ob gyn removed cyst she could not reach the endometriosis area. 54 yeas old and now scheduled for full hysterectomy late July via robotic laparoscopic surgery. I was told i won t need HRT. I have osteopena and recently had high blood pressure levels due to anxiety. Biopsies will be done on everything including cervix and ovary ( I have one left) fallopian tubes and cervix. What are your thoughts. What questions should i be asking. A urologist will be on call just in case as the endometriosis is so close to ureter.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Usually while performing surgery they will take all precautions to prevent any injury to the ureter. As you are undergoing total hysterectomy including with uterus, the cervix and also the remaining ovary will be removed. While performing surgery if any endometrial tissue is present including with which is shown in ultrasound that can also be removed so usually will be relieve the pain after surgery. After surgery depending on your symptoms if needed you may or may not required the hormone replacement therapy. You can ask for the histological examination of the specimen after surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
