Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having a D&C hysteroscopy ablation done soon and I am a little scared to have it done. And I have been doing some reading on it and watching videos of some people getting them done.. Does it hurt? How long am I going to be off work? Can I pick up my kids and hold them?
* Hysteroscopy is a daycare procedure.
* There is mild to moderate pain during the procedure, for which your doctor will assist you as
- Under local anaesthesia, you can walk in clinic and get discharge within 1 hour or so post procedure.
Adequate analgesia coverage is provided pre and post procedure to avoid severe pain.
- Under general anaesthesia, you do not feel any sort of a pain to any extent and you get a discharge from the hospital within 4-5 hours post procedure.
* The type of anaesthesia is to be discussed with your OBGY well before the procedure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
