Is Increased Sclerosis/thickening Involving The Anterior Cortex Of The Proximal Right Tibia A Concern?

Exam: Lower Leg Bilateral (TIB-FIB) Right Leg Pain I had meniscus surgery 6 yrs ago and the swelling has not subsided since. Lately I had x-rays taken and the findings are---: Anatomic alignment. No acute fracture. There is increased sclerosis/thickening involving the anterior cortex of the proximal right tibia No endosteal scalloping cortical destruction or periosteal reaction. This appears chronic. Soft tissues are unremarkable. : No acute osseous findings. ----I ve been to serval orthopedics, took x-rays, but did not explain the problem to me. Their solution was to have a new knee. I am in good health at the age of 89. Please help me to heal myself with proper medication and understanding what is going on with my leg. Thank you for your professional help. God Bless. ------------------------------ You have asked me for payment before you solved my problem. I ve paid enough doctors and they did nothing for me. I would gladly pay you double the amount if you would not let me become crippled. I am 89 yr s old and have no family. I really thought you were different. Sorry, they have made me to distrust. Your ad sounds convincing, but I ve paid enough to doctors and received no results. All they did was to take x-Rays. Sincerely, comehere10optomline.net

Hi,

Bone sclerosis and thickening are due to mineral deposition over the bone. In itself, it is a finding but there can be many causes for it from increased calcium deposition due to metabolic causes.

Or it can be a reactive bone thickening from an injury or trauma or can be due to calcification of the soft tissues and muscle tendons in the area.

We need to see the X-ray images and then a possible cause for the changes can be discussed in detail.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vivek Chail, Radiologist
