I have a mole on my tummy, it was very itchy and painful yesterday, by morning it had developed a little yellow head on it, which must have popped at some point as it s not there now. It s not as bad today although still a little sore, and the skin bordering it is red, the mole itself is a little inflamed, Is it any cause for concern? Thank you
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I will keep a possibility of bacterial infection, the infection probably gaining entry through the hair follicle facilitated by scratching. If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to take an oral antibiotic for a week e.g either flucloxacillin Or cepahlexin. Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs, therefore, I will suggest you to talk with your physician regarding the same. Topical you may use an OTC topical antibacterial ointment e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily.
Regards
