Hi,

Inhaling paint fumes can cause irritation of the throat and the respiratory tract as it contains certain chemicals that are volatile in nature. It can cause bronchial contractions that can initiate cough reflex.

However, if there are no other symptoms like breathing difficulty, drowsiness then you need not worry as the symptoms that you are facing will gradually get better.

For now, you steam inhalations and drink warm water.

Also, you can use a humidifier in your room. Keep a watch on your symptoms and immediately consult an Emergency room to get checked, although I do not think it will worsen.

Avoid being in contact with paint fumes without protective mouth mask in future.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
