Is Insertion Of Rectal Thermometer Into Vagina A Cause For Concern?

I accidentally inserted a rectal thermometer into mu 9 month old's vagina! It didn't go in very far, and I pulled it out as soon as I realized what happened. She was squirming all over the place so I was trying to hurry and made a mistake! No bleeding and she cried when it happened for a few seconds and now she is fine. Should I worry or call the doctor?

Hello,

In your scenario,The most delicate structure that can be damaged is hymen mostly. The rest genital parts can not be injured by mere insertion of thermometer, as you have mentioned you didnt go far.
Mostly, if there was no any visible bleeding, there is no chance to have serious injury to the hymen, but again this can not exclude minor damage.

It is better to be examined practically by a doctor, if you still have a doubt.
And be careful next time.

Regards.
